1.6M Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, Ram Models Recalled for Reverse Camera Issues

Stellantis Announces Massive Recall of 1.6 Million Vehicles

Stellantis has issued a significant recall affecting 1.6 million vehicles due to a software issue that can render reverse cameras inoperable. Over 735,000 vehicles have already received the necessary software update to address this problem.

Recall Woes Continue for Stellantis

Stellantis has faced a series of recalls this year, including issues with Jeep wheels, automatic high beam headlamp controllers, Dodge and Ram trucks with faulty ABS software, and loose ABS groundnuts in Ram Promaster vans.

Largest Recall Yet

The latest recall affects over 1.16 million vehicles in North America, including models from Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, and Ram. The problem stems from buggy software that disrupts the proper display of rearview camera images, which is not only inconvenient but also violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

Affected Models

The recall impacts various models, including Chrysler Pacifica (2021–2023), Dodge Durango (2021-2022), Jeep Compass, Wagoneer, and Grand Wagoneer (2022-2023), Grand Cherokee (2021–2023), Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks (2022), and Promaster vans (2022–2023).

Software Update Solution

Owners of affected vehicles can receive an over-the-air update to fix the rearview camera software issue. Stellantis reports that a significant number of vehicles have already been updated, with clear instructions displayed on the infotainment screen before the download.

Additional Ram Recall

In a separate notice, Stellantis recalled a single 2022 Ram 1500 Classic due to a hardware issue related to the rear-view camera. The problem involves a defective wiring harness that could cause a short circuit, preventing the display of the rear-view image.

Check Your Vehicle

Owners can check if their vehicle is affected by entering their VIN number on NHTSA.gov or contacting their local dealer for more information.
