2013 Chevy Camaro Disguised as Pontiac Judge: 6T9 GTO Convertible

Platform Sharing: The 6T9 GTO Retromodded Chevy Camaro

Platform sharing is a common practice in the automotive industry, where manufacturers share the same platform across different models. One of the automakers most famous for it is General Motors (GM). As a result, we often see a lot of Frankenstein vehicles in which someone will take the bodywork of one GM car and mate it to the underpinnings of another. In the case of this “6T9 GTO,” its creators took a 2013 Chevy Camaro and sculpted it to look like a Pontiac GTO.

The Onyx Tangerine Metallic Pearl body panels are meant to make the Camaro resemble a 1969 Pontiac GTO “The Judge,” and were brought to life by Trans Am Depot after designer Kevin Morgan wanted to see what a modern GTO would look like based on a fifth-gen Camaro. With this body and the 20-inch rally-style wheels, we think they did a pretty good job. One feature in particular on the car that goes the extra mile to set it apart from other retromods are the functional hideaway headlights, which rotate to reveal themselves from behind the grille.

Rarity and Uniqueness

We’ve seen quite a few conversions of Camaros to Firebirds, but not really any to GTOs, and that’s probably because this conversion is one of only seven ever made. Given that rarity (and the overall uniqueness of the build), the car is currently bidding at $36,000 on Hagerty Marketplace with just over a week still left in its auction.

Interior and Exterior Design

Similarly, unlike many other retromods, the retro treatment also extends to the interior. In this case, that comes in the form of items such as the ’69-style ribbed bucket seats, Hurst shifter, “Judge” badging, and vintage-style gauges. The interior also features a numbered edition plaque designating this car as one of seven, as well as the signature of Hurst president and chairman Nate Sheldon. Looking out on the expansive hood, you’ll see two large ram air intakes, but you’ll also spot a unique hood-mounted tachometer repurposed as a boost gauge.

Engine and Performance

Under the hood lies a supercharged 6.2-liter LS3 V8 rated at an impressive 560 hp (568 PS / 418 kW), which is 134 hp (136 PS / 100 kW) more than the stock 426 hp (432 PS / 318 kW). Mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, the engine sends its power to the rear wheels exclusively, and on top of that, it only has 1,377 miles (2,216 km) on the odometer. Other mechanical highlights include Eibach 1-inch lowering springs, Eibach sway bars, powder-coated brake calipers, stainless steel exhaust tips, and a limited-slip differential.

Conclusion

The 6T9 GTO is a rare and unique retromodded Chevy Camaro that has been transformed into a Pontiac GTO. With its Onyx Tangerine Metallic Pearl body panels, functional hideaway headlights, and vintage-style interior, this car is truly one of a kind. Under the hood lies a supercharged 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine that delivers an impressive 560 hp, making it a powerful machine that’s sure to turn heads. If you’re looking for a rare and unique car that’s sure to stand out from the crowd, then the 6T9 GTO is definitely worth considering.
