2023 Acura Integra A-Spec Review: Is It Worth the Premium?
Acura Integra: Initial Reactions and Impressions
When the wraps came off the newest Acura Integra, there was a lot of criticism and debate among car enthusiasts. As someone who reads your comments, I understood that some of the criticism was justified, while some of it was unfair. However, my opinion changed completely when I had the opportunity to test drive the 2023 Acura Integra A-Spec.
Even my initial concern that it was simply a more expensive version of the Civic Si faded away as I got behind the wheel. If I were in the market for a car in this class, I would gladly pay the extra money for the Acura Integra A-Spec, not just because of the luxury dealer experience, but because it truly is an exceptional vehicle.
A Sports Car Disguised as a Daily Driver
The Acura Integra A-Spec is not just a high-performance vehicle, but also a practical daily driver. It seamlessly combines the best of both worlds.
Shared Platform with the Civic Si
It’s no surprise that the Acura Integra shares a platform with the Honda Civic Si. Automakers often use shared platforms to save costs. However, the driving experience between the two cars is noticeably different.
The Acura Integra A-Spec offers a more refined and comfortable ride compared to the Civic Si. It excels as a commuter car, grocery-getter, and a vehicle for casual outings with friends or loved ones.
Performance and Features
In terms of performance, the Acura Integra A-Spec is on par, if not slightly better, than the Civic Si. Both cars share the same 1.5-liter turbo four engine, producing 200 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque. The Acura also offers a similar six-speed manual transmission.
The cabin of the Acura Integra A-Spec is a step above the Civic Si. While Honda’s influence is evident, the Acura features nicer cabin materials and additional comfort features. Notably, it comes with heated seats, which is a significant advantage for those living in colder climates.
Pricing and Packages
With a starting price of around $35,000 and additional options, the Acura Integra A-Spec offers a range of features. Some notable features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite radio, blind-spot information, dual-zone climate control, LED headlights, and advanced safety systems.
The A-Spec Package adds sporty elements such as 18-inch wheels, LED fog lamps, and a rear spoiler. The Tech Package includes premium audio, sport seats with microsuede inserts, and a head-up display.
Distinctive Style and Design
The Acura Integra A-Spec stands out with its distinctive and sporty design. It offers a more upscale appearance compared to the Honda Civic Si. The hatchback body style adds practicality and versatility to the Integra’s appeal.
The only style aspect that may not be to everyone’s taste is the infotainment screen, which appears slightly tacked-on. However, overall, the Acura Integra’s design is attractive and eye-catching.
Final Thoughts: The Acura Integra A-Spec
The Acura Integra A-Spec is a car that I would seriously consider buying. It offers a perfect balance of performance and refinement, making it suitable for daily driving and occasional spirited drives. While the Honda Civic Si is a great car, the Acura Integra A-Spec elevates it with its luxurious touches and hatchback practicality.
