2024 Audi Q4 E-tron: Increased Range and 335bhp | Giga Gears

Audi has unveiled the updated 2024 Q4 E-tron, with improvements in power and efficiency among the most significant changes for the electric SUV. The Audi Q4 E-tron and its sleeker Audi Q4 Sportback E-tron sibling receive a new rear-mounted synchronous electric motor, in line with revisions made to the Volkswagen ID 4 and Volkswagen ID 5, alongside which they are produced. Let’s take a closer look at the updates and enhancements made to the 2024 Audi Q4 E-tron.

Improved Power and Efficiency

The 2024 Audi Q4 E-tron comes equipped with a new rear-mounted synchronous electric motor, manufactured in-house by the Volkswagen Group. This motor features a newly designed cooling system for the stator and a new gearset for the single-speed transmission. These changes, along with other modifications, provide the updated Audi with a significant increase in power and efficiency.

The single-motor, rear-wheel-drive Q4 45 E-tron now has 80bhp more than the older Q4 40 E-tron it replaces. On the other hand, the dual-motor, four-wheel-drive Q4 55 E-tron Quattro gets 40bhp more than the outgoing Q4 50 E-tron Quattro, resulting in a combined power output of 335bhp. The acceleration has also improved, with a 0-62mph time of 6.7 seconds for the Q4 45 E-tron and 5.4 seconds for the Q4 55 E-tron Quattro. The top speed for all models is now limited to 112mph.

Increased Range and Faster Charging

The Q4 Sportback 45 E-tron now boasts an increased range of 349 miles on the WLTP test cycle, thanks to its standard 77kWh (usable) lithium-ion battery. Additionally, the four-wheel-drive variant can be charged at up to 175kW, allowing for faster charging times. A new function also enables pre-conditioning of the battery before charging, resulting in more rapid energy replenishment.

Suspension and Assist Package Updates

Audi has also made tweaks to the suspension of the Q4 E-tron, aiming for “more harmonious damping, improved steering response, and tighter load control.” These changes enhance the overall driving experience and handling of the electric SUV.

Furthermore, the 2024 Audi Q4 E-tron now offers an updated optional assist package that includes an assisted lane change function. When the driver initiates a lane change by tapping the steering-wheel-mounted indicator stalk, the system actively assists the driver in steering into the next lane, providing an added level of convenience and safety.

Production and Pricing

Audi has confirmed that the upgraded Q4 E-tron will be produced at its own plant in Brussels, Belgium, as well as Volkswagen’s plant in Zwickau, Germany. This move highlights Audi’s commitment to electric mobility and its plans to have each of its production plants responsible for at least one electric model by the end of the decade.

While pricing for the 2024 Audi Q4 E-tron has yet to be announced, Audi officials have stated that it will increase incrementally in line with the technical upgrades and added levels of standard equipment. The electric SUV is expected to launch in the UK early next year.

In conclusion, the 2024 Audi Q4 E-tron brings significant improvements in power, efficiency, range, and charging capabilities. With its updated motor, faster charging, improved suspension, and enhanced driving assistance features, the Q4 E-tron is set to compete strongly in the electric SUV market. Audi’s commitment to electric mobility is evident in its production plans and continued advancements in electric vehicle technology.
