2024 Honda Passport: Trailsport Upgraded for Optimal Trail Performance | Giga Gears

2024 Honda Passport Updated, Trailsport Now More Trail-Ready

Honda has recently made revisions to its mid-size Passport, with a particular focus on the off-road-themed Trailsport variant. The Trailsport was initially introduced in 2022 as a cosmetic package, but the latest update brings mechanical enhancements to make it more capable off-road.

Previously, the Trailsport had model-specific bumpers, fake skid plates, black trim, and Trailsport badging. However, it lacked any mechanical differences from the standard Passport and came equipped with all-season tires. Essentially, it was all show and no go.

With the 2024 update, Honda has addressed this issue to some extent. While the Trailsport still falls short of being a Moab monster SUV, it now offers improved off-road capabilities. It features General Grabber A/Tx tires on its 18-inch wheels, along with bespoke springs, shocks, and anti-roll bars. These enhancements make it slightly more useful for venturing away from paved roads.

In addition to the mechanical upgrades, the 2024 Trailsport is available in a new Diffused Sky Blue paint option. Inside the vehicle, there are orange highlights on the upholstery and mats, which can be easily hosed clean. For those who are serious about off-roading, genuine underbody protection can be added by ordering parts from Honda’s accessories catalog.

However, it’s important to note that the ground clearance remains the same as the stock grade at 8.1 inches (210 mm). While this may be disappointing for some off-road enthusiasts, the combination of improved tires and suspension components should still provide a noticeable improvement in off-road performance.

Apart from the Trailsport updates, Honda has made other changes to the 2024 Passport as well. The center console has been enlarged to include an armrest and an expanded storage cubby. Additionally, a new Black Edition grade has been introduced as the top-of-the-line model. This edition features a black finish on the grille, headlights, door handles, 20-inch wheels, and window trim. It also offers ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and red stitching on the black seats.

While Honda has not yet revealed the prices for the 2024 Passport, it is confirmed that all models will continue to be powered by the same 280 hp (284 PS) 3.5-liter V6 engine as the previous year’s SUV. The starting price for the 2023 Passport was $42,475, so it can be expected that the 2024 model will be priced similarly.

In conclusion, the 2024 Honda Passport has received significant updates, particularly in the Trailsport variant. While it may not be a hardcore off-roader, the Trailsport now offers improved off-road capabilities with its upgraded tires and suspension components. Additionally, the introduction of the Black Edition grade adds a touch of luxury and style to the lineup. With these updates, Honda continues to cater to a wide range of customers who seek a mid-size SUV with both on-road comfort and off-road capability.
