2024 Kia Sorento: A Rugged Facelift with Family Influence
Embracing the Rugged Trend
The 2024 Kia Sorento has received a facelift that follows the current rugged/boxy trend in the crossover market. The front of the Sorento features a boxy, upright hood, giving it a distinct and rugged appearance. This design is reminiscent of the larger and popular Kia Telluride, which has influenced the Sorento’s styling.
Trim Options and Influences
The 2024 Kia Sorento offers a range of trim options, including LX, S, EX, SX, and SX-P. Additionally, there are X-Line and X-Pro packages available. The X-Line package is off-road-oriented and can be added to the EX and above trims, while the X-Pro package is exclusive to the SX-P trim. The Sorento also features vertical taillamps inspired by the Telluride and a grille and vertical LED headlights influenced by the upcoming EV SUV.
Interior Updates and Features
The interior of the 2024 Kia Sorento boasts new updates, including a curving display that houses two 12.3-inch screens. The X-Line trim offers additional features such as a center-locking differential, roof rack, 20-inch gloss black wheels, and a unique gloss-black grille. On the other hand, the X-Pro trim comes with 17-inch wheels, BF Goodrich all-terrain tires, and a towing capacity of 4,000 pounds.
Other notable features include a faster navigation/infotainment system with over-the-air updates, a digital key, USB-C ports, advanced safety features like forward collision-avoidance assist and lane-keeping assist, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Powertrain Options
The 2024 Kia Sorento is available with front-wheel or all-wheel drive and offers two engine options. The base engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and is used for LX and S trims. The higher trim levels, such as the SX-P, come with a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 281 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with a dual-clutch, eight-speed automatic transmission.
Availability
The 2024 Kia Sorento is set to go on sale in the first quarter of 2024. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid models are expected to follow later in 2024 as 2025 models.
