The Lexus LBX 2024: A Breakthrough Compact Crossover
Introduction
Discover if the Lexus LBX can live up to its longer than usual name in this in-depth review. Lexus is banking on this new compact crossover to drive sales growth in the UK market.
Month 1 Overview
Our experience with the Lexus LBX begins with welcoming it to our fleet on 12 June 2024. The LBX, which stands for Lexus Breakthrough Crossover, is the brand’s smallest car yet, designed to challenge the status quo and attract a new, younger customer base.
Specs
The Lexus LBX FWD Premium Plus design specification comes with a price tag of £35,595. Equipped with a 1.5-litre three-cylinder hybrid powertrain producing 134bhp, the LBX offers a respectable 0-62mph time of 9.2 seconds and an impressive fuel economy of 61.4mpg.
Design and Features
Despite sharing its platform with the Toyota Yaris Cross, the Lexus LBX distinguishes itself with a longer, lower, and wider stance. The Premium Plus Design trim offers a host of features including a 12.3-inch touchscreen, head-up display, and blindspot monitoring.
Driving Experience
The LBX’s e-CVT transmission delivers smooth performance, though some engine noise is noticeable under hard acceleration. The car’s ride and handling have been optimized for a comfortable driving experience.
Interior and Practicality
The LBX’s interior exudes a premium feel with comfortable seats and high-quality finishes. Despite its compact size, the car offers ample headroom in the back and a surprisingly spacious 402-litre boot capacity.
Verdict
As we continue our long-term test of the Lexus LBX, we aim to determine if it has what it takes to be a sales success for Lexus in the UK market. Stay tuned for more updates on our experience with this breakthrough compact crossover.
