2024 Mercedes EQB: Fresh Style, Infotainment, and Towbar

The Mercedes-Benz EQB has undergone a significant refresh for the 2024 model year, with updates to both its exterior and interior. This electric crossover, which shares its platform with the combustion-engined GLB, will be available to order in the autumn and deliveries are set to begin early next year.

One of the most noticeable changes to the EQB is its new look. It features a black front grille with Mercedes’ signature star pattern, giving it a more distinctive appearance. The front light bar has also been redesigned and now joins the LED daytime running lights. At the rear, the rounded rear light design has been replaced with a straighter, horizontal arrangement.

Inside the cabin, the star pattern is carried over to the dashboard and door trim pieces, creating a cohesive and luxurious feel. The star pattern is backlit, further emphasizing the connection with Mercedes’ flagship S-Class and EQS models. The EQB also receives a new touch-capacitive three-spoke steering wheel and the option of open-pore wood trim, adding to the overall premium feel of the interior.

In terms of functionality, the 2024 EQB now offers a self-stabilizing trailer hitch as an option. This trailer hitch has a maximum payload rating of 1400kg for front-wheel-drive models and 1700kg for four-wheel-drive models. However, this option is only available if buyers choose not to have the third row of seats.

Another new feature available for the EQB is the Burmester sound system with Dolby Atmos. This advanced audio system allows occupants to choose from four different “sound experiences,” including options like “silver waves” and “vivid flux.” These sound experiences change the tone and acoustics of songs, enhancing the overall listening experience.

The EQB also comes standard with the Mercedes Me Plug & Charge function. This feature allows the vehicle to start charging automatically after being plugged in, eliminating the need for drivers to authenticate themselves beforehand. The latest-generation MBUX interface, which is used in the new EQB, makes it easier to navigate this system. The interface includes two 10.0-inch touchscreens with a cleaner and simpler design than before, as well as three display styles. Additionally, the voice-recognition system has been upgraded to learn various accents more quickly.

Mercedes has also made improvements to the EQB’s range by adopting a more streamlined design and using low-rolling-resistance tires. While the exact range figure has not been revealed, the smaller facelifted EQA can achieve 347 miles on a single charge. Therefore, it is expected that the EQB will exceed the 330-mile mark.

As for pricing, Mercedes has not provided specific details yet. However, it is anticipated that the 2024 EQB will be slightly more expensive than the current model, which starts at £54,450.

Overall, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB offers a refreshed and more stylish exterior, an upgraded interior with advanced technology, and improved functionality. With its new look and enhanced features, the EQB is set to continue its success in the electric crossover market.
