The new Peugeot e-3008 is set to be revealed on 12 September, and it brings with it a fresh design and pure-electric power. The upcoming crossover will feature a completely new look inspired by the brand’s Inception concept, marking a departure from traditional SUV design cues.
One of the key highlights of the new e-3008 is the updated i-Cockpit infotainment system. This system will eventually be rolled out across the majority of the Peugeot model range. It includes a 21-inch curved panoramic display that stretches from behind the steering wheel to the center of the dashboard. The new digital instrument cluster, ambient LED lighting, and redesigned steering wheel with integrated controls add to the modern and futuristic feel of the cabin.
Peugeot has also made changes to the layout and functionality of the interior. The i-Toggle touchpad system makes a return, and the gear selector has been moved to the dashboard next to the start button. Following the launch of the e-3008, Peugeot will introduce an electric version of its larger 5008 model. This model will also be built on the same platform and is expected to offer similar powertrain options and battery choices. Peugeot’s product boss, Jerome Micheron, has emphasized that these new crossovers will be “born EV,” meaning they are designed specifically around their electric architecture. This is a departure from the brand’s current EVs, which are adapted versions of internal combustion engine car platforms.
While specific technical details about the e-3008 and 5008 remain undisclosed, Peugeot has released a preview of its future all-electric lineup. The Inception concept heavily influences the design of these upcoming models, with a new LED interpretation of Peugeot’s signature ‘claw’ lights. The e-3008, in particular, showcases Peugeot’s commitment to rethinking the traditional SUV concept by focusing on aerodynamic efficiency to maximize range per charge.
Peugeot’s company boss, Linda Jackson, has emphasized the need to move away from tall, flat-fronted silhouettes in future production cars to improve aerodynamics. She believes that while SUVs will remain popular, there is a growing demand for more aerodynamic and efficient designs. This sentiment is echoed by Jerome Micheron, who believes that there is “life outside SUVs.”
