“2024 Toyota Mirai: Upgraded Interior and New Tech in Japan | Giga Gears”

2024 Toyota Mirai Receives Safety Upgrades and New Features

The Toyota Crown Sedan may be stealing the spotlight, but the 2024 Toyota Mirai is not going anywhere. In fact, Toyota has announced several updates for the upcoming model year.

Enhanced Safety Features

Launching in Japan on December 18, the 2024 Mirai now comes equipped with the latest Toyota Safety Sense system. The Proactive Driving Assist function offers deceleration and steering support, prioritizing driver safety. However, some users may find it slightly intrusive.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems

The new Mirai will feature a pre-collision system with pedestrian and bicyclist detection, cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and lane change assist. Additionally, buyers can expect adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, road sign assist, and a blind spot monitor. The popular Teammate semi-autonomous driving system will also be available.

Interior Upgrades

The 2024 Mirai will offer more trims with 12.3-inch displays, providing a modern and immersive infotainment experience. Toyota has also introduced a new 64-color ambient lighting system and digital key technology for added convenience.

Powertrain and Availability

The powertrain of the US-spec Mirai is expected to remain unchanged, featuring three hydrogen storage tanks, a fuel cell, a 1.24 kWh lithium-ion battery, and a 182 hp (136 kW / 185 PS) electric motor powering the rear wheels. It is yet to be confirmed if the safety upgrades and new features will be available in the US market.
