2024 VW ID.4 Boosts Power and Range Significantly

Volkswagen’s ID.4, the all-electric crossover built in Chattanooga, is set to receive a significant update for the 2024 model year. The new version will offer more power and improved efficiency, resulting in increased range.

The 2024 ID.4 will come equipped with a larger battery, providing up to 81 more horsepower (60 kW/82 PS) compared to the 2023 model. Last year’s single-motor variant with an 82 kWh battery produced 201 hp (150 kW/204 PS), but the 2024 version will boast an impressive 282 hp (210 kW/286 PS). This means that the single-motor ID.4 for 2024 will be nearly as powerful as the previous year’s twin-motor variant. The multimotor ID.4 will also receive an update, with its power output increasing from 295 hp (220 kW/299 PS) to 330 hp (246 kW/335 PS).

Despite the increase in power, Volkswagen expects the ID.4 to offer more range due to improved efficiency. The automaker has not yet disclosed the exact range figures for the 2024 model, but in 2023, both the single and twin-motor variants were rated at 255 miles (410 km) of range. The smaller-battery, 62 kWh version of the ID.4, which has a range of 209 miles (336 km), will not receive similar upgrades.

In addition to the power boost, the 82 kWh model of the 2024 ID.4 will feature a larger infotainment screen. The display will be upsized to 12.9 inches and will include backlit sliders, a more intuitive climate control interface, and a revised infotainment menu for improved usability. The 62 kWh model will continue to have a 12-inch screen.

The 2024 VW ID.4 will be available in three trim levels: Standard/Pro, S, and S Plus. The S trim will now come with ventilated seats, while the S Plus will feature a premium Harman/Kardon sound system with nine speakers, a subwoofer, and a 16-channel amplifier.

On the exterior, the Standard AWD model will sport larger 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels, while the S Plus will be equipped with 21-inch machined alloy wheels. Pricing for the updated ID.4 will be announced closer to its on-sale date, which is expected to be in early 2024.

With these enhancements, Volkswagen is aiming to make the ID.4 an even more compelling option in the electric crossover market. The increased power and range, along with the upgraded infotainment system and additional features, make the 2024 ID.4 a strong contender for eco-conscious consumers seeking a practical and efficient electric vehicle.

As the demand for electric vehicles continues to grow, automakers like Volkswagen are investing in improving their offerings to meet the needs and expectations of consumers. The ID.4’s power and efficiency upgrades demonstrate Volkswagen’s commitment to providing a competitive electric vehicle that delivers both performance and range.

Overall, the 2024 VW ID.4 is set to be a significant improvement over its predecessor. With more power, increased range, and enhanced features, it is poised to make a strong impact in the electric crossover segment. As Volkswagen continues to invest in electric mobility, the ID.4 represents a step forward in their efforts to provide sustainable transportation options for the future.
