2025 Hyundai Sonata Gains Entry-Level SE Trim, Lowers Starting Price By $850
Introduction
What’s rarer than a mid-size family sedan? A price cut in an era of rampant inflation. The 2025 Hyundai Sonata defies the trend by introducing an entry-level SE trim, reducing the base price to $26,650, which is $850 less than the previous year’s model.
Features and Pricing
The Sonata SE comes equipped with LED lighting units, an acoustic windshield, a hands-free smart trunk, 16-inch alloy wheels, and basic mirrors without heating. Inside, it offers manual climate controls, a urethane steering wheel, cloth seats, a six-speaker audio system, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, and a proximity key with push-button ignition.
Despite being an entry-level model, the Sonata SE includes several driver assistance systems such as Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, High Beam Assist, Blind Spot Collision Warning with Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Safe Exit Warning, Rear Occupant Alert, Lane Keeping Assist, and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection.
Other trims in the Sonata lineup have seen minor price increases. The SEL now starts at $27,750, up by $250 from the previous year’s model. The Sonata N Line has a $300 price hike, while the Sonata Hybrid sees a $200 increase.
Engine Options
Most Sonata models are powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 191 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. However, the Sonata N Line stands out with a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine that delivers 290 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. The Sonata Hybrid features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a 1.62 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, providing a combined output of 192 hp and a fuel economy rating of 44 mpg city, 51 mpg highway, and 47 mpg combined.
