2025 Ram 1500: A Hurricane Arrives with Powerful Twin-Turbo Engines
No V8, But More Power: The New Engines
The 2025 Dodge Ram will not have a V8 engine, disappointing old-school Mopar enthusiasts. However, the new Ram comes with two twin-turbocharged straight six engines that offer impressive power. Both engines have a displacement of 3.0 liters.
The first engine delivers 420 horsepower and 469 lb-ft of torque, while the high-output version boasts 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft of torque. These power numbers surpass what the outgoing 5.7-liter Hemi engine offered.
Impressive Towing Capacity and Payload
The maximum towing capacity of the 2025 Ram 1500 is slightly reduced to 11,580 pounds compared to the previous model’s 12,750 pounds. However, the payload remains the same at 2,300 pounds.
If you’re adamant about having a V8 engine, the Ram Classic is still available for purchase.
Additional Engine Options and Future Models
The Pentastar V6 engine continues to be offered, providing 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque.
The TRX model is no longer in production, but Ram boss Tim Kuniskis hinted at the possibility of its return. In the meantime, a new Ram RHO model focused on off-roading and performance will join the lineup in the third quarter of next year. There may even be room for both an RHO and TRX model.
Trim Levels and Luxurious Features
The trim walk for the 2025 Ram 1500 remains mostly unchanged, with the addition of a new ultra-luxurious Tungsten model. The available trims are as follows: Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Rebel, Limited Longhorn, Limited, and Tungsten.
Tungsten models offer luxurious features such as Natura leather 24-way power front seats with heating, cooling, and massage functions, a suede headliner, a 23-speaker Klipsch Reference Premiere audio system, dual wireless device chargers, and unique LED taillights.
Enhanced Interior and Advanced Infotainment System
The interior of the 2025 Ram 1500 offers unique treatments across different trims. The UConnect infotainment system by Stellantis has been upgraded, featuring a 12-inch or new 14.5-inch screen that supports split-screen use. Passengers can also enjoy a 10.25-inch screen for navigation, device access, exterior cameras, and entertainment functions. The new UConnect system promises faster response times.
Advanced driver-assist features include Active Driving Assist, providing hands-on-wheel, eyes-on-road Level 2 autonomous driving through lane-centering and adaptive cruise control. Hands-Free Driving Assist allows for hands-off autonomy on approved roads.
Cutting-Edge Technology and Safety Features
The 2025 Ram 1500 offers various cutting-edge features, including an onboard power inverter capable of producing up to two kilowatts and a digital rearview mirror with a tow mode. Additionally, your cell phone can be used as a digital key.
The vehicle also offers a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster with a configurable head-up display. Available advanced driver-assist features include blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, full-speed forward collision warning-plus, perpendicular park assist, 360-degree camera, fog lamps, rain-sensing wipers, automatic high beams, and traffic sign recognition.
