2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA: Everything We Know

Introduction

Mercedes-Benz is set to enter the electric vehicle market with the all-new 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA. This compact sedan will retain the sleek design and high-tech features of the EV concept, offering impressive range and fast charging capabilities. With rivals such as the Tesla Model 3 and BMW i4, the CLA is expected to make its debut in 2025.

Aero-Optimized Design

The exterior of the CLA closely resembles the concept version, featuring a fluid and aerodynamic silhouette. The front of the vehicle showcases a diamond-studded faux front grille, lower air ducts inspired by Mercedes-AMG aesthetics, and a full-width lightbar above. The sharp creases and flush-mounted door handles contribute to the streamlined appearance of the car.

Interior Smarts

Inside the CLA, you’ll find a tech-infused minimalist elegance combined with practical functionality. The production model will feature an AI-powered MBUX infotainment system with a full-width display. The longer wheelbase improves rear-seat comfort, and a comprehensive suite of driver assistance features is expected. The CLA will also offer a Level 2++ autonomous system for city and urban driving.

Powertrain Options

The CLA is built on the flexible MMA platform, which accommodates both electric and internal combustion powertrains. The EV concept featured a lightweight 235 hp electric motor with a driving range exceeding 466 miles. The production version will utilize an 800-volt system for rapid charging, allowing the sedan to gain 248 miles of range in just 15 minutes. The CLA will also support bidirectional charging capabilities, enabling Vehicle-to-Home and Vehicle-to-Grid functions.

On the internal combustion front, the CLA will feature standard four-cylinder gasoline engines paired with hybrid assistance.

Flagship AMG EV with 500HP

In addition to the standard models, Mercedes-Benz is testing a flagship AMG variant of the CLA, rumored to be an electric model. This high-performance version is expected to deliver around 500 horsepower with dual electric motors per axle. It will feature enhanced electric motors, an advanced battery cooling system, and a more aggressive body kit.

Rivals and Reveal

Potential rivals for the CLA include the Tesla Model 3, BMW i4, and Audi A4 e-tron. The official debut of the CLA is anticipated in the coming months, with availability in North American showrooms next year.
