“28,000 Genesis Sedans Recalled for V6 Engine Fire Risk After Kia”

Genesis Sedans Recalled Over V6 Engine Fire Risk

Recall Campaign for Genesis Sedans

Last week, a recall campaign was initiated to address a potential fire risk in 2019-2020 Kia K900s and 2018-2022 Kia Stingers with the 3.3-liter turbocharged V6 engine. Now, Genesis sedans with the same engine are facing a similar issue.

Number of Vehicles Affected

The Korean automaker is recalling a total of 28,439 vehicles in the United States, including 14,186 G70s from 2019-2022, 7,372 G80s from 2018-2020, and 6,881 G90s from 2017-2022.

Root Cause of the Issue

The problem is related to the left-hand turbocharger oil supply pipe located near the exhaust manifold. Material degradation can occur, leading to cracking and potential oil spills onto the hot manifold, resulting in a fire hazard.

Genesis Recall Details

Genesis has received 81 reports of customers experiencing issues related to this problem. While no crashes, injuries, or fires have been reported yet, the automaker is taking proactive measures to address the issue through a recall.

Remedy for the Fault

To prevent further incidents, Genesis will replace the existing oil supply pipe with a new stainless steel one that can better withstand the engine bay temperatures.

By addressing this issue promptly, Genesis aims to ensure the safety and reliability of its vehicles for customers.
