Jeep Grand Cherokees Recalled Due to Missing Safety Foam
Jeep has issued a recall for seven Grand Cherokees that were missing energy-absorbing foam, a crucial component for the proper functioning of airbags in the event of a crash.
The Importance of Energy-Absorbing Foam
Modern automotive safety technology relies on simple yet essential parts like energy-absorbing foam. In the case of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, this foam plays a critical role in ensuring that airbags deploy effectively during a collision.
Recall Details
Jeep discovered the missing foam issue on December 6, 2023, and promptly corrected its production process by December 9, 2023. However, seven Grand Cherokees had already left the factory without this vital safety component.
Fixing the Problem
Jeep will install the missing foam on all seven affected SUVs to ensure the safety of the vehicles. Owners will not incur any costs for this repair as it falls under a recall. Jeep plans to notify dealers and owners by July 5 about the issue and provide instructions on how to address it.
Other Recalls by Stellantis
This recall is just one of several issued by Stellantis brands recently. In addition to the Grand Cherokee recall, Jeep and Ram recalled 12 vehicles for rearview camera and ESC glitches. Earlier this year, Jeep recalled over 330,000 vehicles for various issues, including a potential problem with front wheels detaching from the Grand Cherokee.
