700K+ Mercedes-Benz Models Get New Over-The-Air Infotainment Update

More Than 700,000 Mercedes-Benz Models Receive New Over-The-Air Infotainment Update

Mercedes-Benz is rolling out a new over-the-air software update this month, bringing a range of entertainment and navigation features to over 700,000 vehicles worldwide. The update will be available for vehicles equipped with the second generation of the MBUX infotainment system, and can be accessed through the display or the Mercedes me connect app.

One of the key features introduced in this update is Dolby Atmos for S-Class, EQE, and EQS models with the Entertainment Package Plus and the available Burmester Sound System. This technology enhances the listening experience, providing occupants with even better audio quality. With Dolby Atmos, Mercedes-Benz aims to deliver a more immersive and engaging sound experience for its customers.

In addition to Dolby Atmos, select 2024MY vehicles will now include the YouTube Web app for added in-car entertainment. This means that Mercedes owners can enjoy their favorite YouTube videos directly from their vehicles. The YouTube Web app offers a wide range of content, allowing passengers to stay entertained during their journeys.

Mercedes-Benz is also introducing NewsFlash, a feature that allows owners in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK to listen to newscasts on various topics such as general news, business, finance, sports, and culture. This feature is available in five languages and will soon be introduced in the United States.

Furthermore, the software of the front passenger display has been updated to allow audio from content viewed on it to be played on the in-car sound system. Previously, audio could only be heard through headphones. This update provides greater flexibility and convenience for passengers.

Owners of Mercedes-Benz vehicles with the first-generation MBUX system are not left behind either. They will receive Google’s Place Details function, which provides detailed information about more than 200 million businesses and locations worldwide through the navigation system. This feature enhances the navigation experience, allowing users to easily find and access relevant information about their destinations.

Magnus Östberg, Mercedes-Benz’s chief software officer, highlighted the benefits of the company’s in-house developed software. He stated, “Our in-house developed Mercedes-Benz software enables great in-car entertainment, immersive Dolby Atmos audio, video streaming, and enhanced navigation experiences. Equipped with our pioneering MBUX infotainment system, our vehicles meet the rapidly changing desires of our customers worldwide through regular over-the-air feature updates.”

Mercedes-Benz is committed to providing its customers with the latest technology and features through over-the-air updates. This approach allows the company to continuously improve the user experience and adapt to evolving customer needs. By introducing new entertainment and navigation features, Mercedes-Benz aims to enhance the overall driving experience and ensure that its vehicles remain at the forefront of innovation.

With this latest over-the-air update, more than 700,000 Mercedes-Benz models worldwide will benefit from improved entertainment options, enhanced audio quality, and advanced navigation capabilities. Whether it’s enjoying immersive sound with Dolby Atmos, watching YouTube videos on the go, or accessing detailed information about businesses and locations, Mercedes-Benz owners can now enjoy a more connected and enjoyable driving experience.
