Investigation Launched into 94,000 Jeep Wranglers for Power Loss Issue

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has initiated a recall query involving over 94,000 electrified Jeep Wranglers due to a potential defect. The agency has received nearly 70 reports of these vehicles experiencing power loss, prompting the investigation.

Previous Recall

The investigation includes some models that were previously recalled by Jeep for a similar issue. While this is not an extension of the previous recall, it encompasses certain vehicles from that population. The original recall addressed a loss of motive power in the 4xe model from 2021 to 2023, with the investigation now extending to 2024 models as well.

Concerns and Safety

With reports of power loss affecting Wranglers both within and outside the initial recall population, safety concerns have been raised. The original recall involved 62,909 Wranglers of the plug-in hybrid variety, where a communication breakdown between components could lead to vehicle shutdowns. Owners of affected vehicles are advised to report any issues promptly to assist in the investigation process.
