Alfa Romeo SUV Nears Cayenne Rival as Fifth Model | Giga Gears

Alfa Romeo Plans to Introduce Fifth Model Line by 2027

Alfa Romeo is gearing up to launch its fifth model line by 2027, with the possibility of introducing an electric SUV or a family hatchback. The decision on the new model is expected to be finalized by the end of this year, with a large SUV similar to the Porsche Cayenne being the leading contender.

The Italian automaker recently added the Junior crossover to its lineup, joining the Giulia saloon, Tonale, and Stelvio SUVs. The potential fifth model line has long been rumored to be an E-segment electric SUV, but Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato emphasized that the final decision will depend on the business case.

Imparato highlighted the company’s readiness to expand in size, with the platform, engines, and software in place to support a larger vehicle. The large SUV would likely be built on Stellantis’s STLA Large platform, offering fast charging capabilities and a range of powerful motors and batteries.

While the approval for the large SUV hinges on various factors such as electrification progress in different markets and consumer demand, Alfa Romeo remains open to exploring other options like a C-segment hatchback. The company also plans to continue offering limited-run specials alongside its regular model lines.

Looking ahead, Alfa Romeo is considering potential revivals of classic models like the GTV or Alfetta, depending on market trends. The company is also exploring the possibility of introducing a Duetto spider alongside a future C-segment hatchback.

As Alfa Romeo prepares for the future, Imparato emphasized the importance of aligning with market demands while staying true to the brand’s heritage. The company remains committed to delivering innovative and exciting vehicles that resonate with consumers.
