Alpine’s New Electric SUVs to Feature A110-Inspired Handling | Giga Gears

Alpine Set to Launch High-Performance Electric SUVs to Rival Porsche Macan and Cayenne

Alpine, the French automotive brand known for its sporty and dynamic cars, is expanding its lineup with the introduction of D- and E-segment SUVs. These electric range-toppers are set to hit the market in 2027 and 2028 and will offer a combination of high-performance capabilities and luxurious features to compete with the likes of the Porsche Macan and Cayenne.

The upcoming Alpine SUVs will not only cater to the luxury car market but also aim to provide an engaging driving experience inspired by the brand’s iconic A110 sports car. While they will be marketed as “lifestyle” products, Alpine promises that the driving dynamics will remain a core attribute of these vehicles.

Antony Villain, Alpine’s head of design, expressed the brand’s vision for the new SUVs, stating, “The idea is to use the driving experience of the A110 and duplicate it in different segments. We want something high-performance, sporty, and energized. We don’t want something that just goes in straight lines super-quickly.”

However, achieving this level of performance in an electric SUV presents its own set of challenges. Electric cars tend to be heavier than their combustion-engine counterparts. To overcome this, Alpine plans to employ various technical solutions, including a low center of gravity, torque vectoring, and four-wheel steering. These features are expected to enhance the driving dynamics and ensure an exhilarating experience behind the wheel.

When it comes to size, the E-segment SUV is designed to expand Alpine’s footprint and make a strong entry into the US market. While it may be considered a large car in Europe, it will still fall into the compact category in the US. Antony Villain hinted that the E-segment model would be around five meters in length, positioning it as a natural competitor to SUVs like the Audi Q8 E-tron and BMW iX. On the other hand, the D-segment model is expected to measure approximately 4.7 meters.

Alpine’s foray into the electric SUV market demonstrates the brand’s commitment to innovation and adapting to the evolving automotive landscape. By combining their expertise in creating engaging driving experiences with the growing demand for electric vehicles, Alpine aims to attract a new segment of customers who value both performance and sustainability.

The decision to develop electric SUVs also aligns with the global trend towards electrification. As governments worldwide implement stricter emissions regulations, automakers are increasingly investing in electric vehicle technology. Alpine’s entry into this market segment not only showcases their dedication to staying ahead of the curve but also positions them as a formidable competitor to established luxury brands.

With their sleek design, high-performance capabilities, and energized driving experience, Alpine’s upcoming electric SUVs are poised to make a significant impact in the luxury car market. While specific details about the vehicles are yet to be revealed, enthusiasts and potential buyers can expect a blend of cutting-edge technology, luxurious features, and the unmistakable Alpine DNA that has made the brand a favorite among driving enthusiasts.

As the launch of these electric SUVs approaches, Alpine continues to push boundaries and redefine what it means to be a luxury car manufacturer. With their commitment to delivering exhilarating driving experiences in an electric package, Alpine is set to captivate the hearts of performance-oriented customers who are ready to embrace the future of mobility.
