Off-Road Dodge Challenger Hellcat: A Unique 4×4 Sports Car
The Rise of Off-Road Sports Cars
In recent years, off-road sports cars have gained immense popularity. Models like the Porsche 911 Dakar and Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato have captured the attention of enthusiasts worldwide. Now, Westen Champlin has joined the trend with his own creation: a 4×4 Dodge Challenger Hellcat.
Unleashing Extreme Power
Champlin, known for his previous work on the 1,500-hp Cummins diesel-powered Mustang, has taken off-road performance to new heights with this Hellcat. While the Dakar boasts 473 hp from its twin-turbo flat-six engine, the Hellcat surpasses it with a staggering 707 hp supercharged V8.
Unmatched Ground Clearance
One of the standout features of Champlin’s creation is its exceptional ground clearance. While the Dakar offers a modest lift, the Hellcat sits on solid axles from a Ford F-350, towering above its 35-inch all-terrain tires.
Precision Engineering and Customization
Building the 4×4 Hellcat required meticulous engineering and customization. Champlin fabricated custom frame rails, modified the axles, and even cut the floorboard to ensure a perfect fit. Driveline components from a Chevy pickup truck were added to convert the Hellcat into a capable four-wheel drive vehicle.
Unleash Your Off-Road Adventure
While the 4×4 Challenger Hellcat may not possess the agility of a rally car, its heavy curb weight, truck suspension, and front-engine configuration make it a formidable off-road machine. Think trophy truck rather than a rally car. Although the build is still in progress, Champlin’s progress so far has been impressive, and we eagerly anticipate the final product.
