Transforming a Dodge Viper into an Off-Road Beast
When you think of a Dodge Viper, off-roading probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. However, one man has taken this iconic sports car and turned it into a wild off-road machine. Matt Brown, known for his YouTube channel SuperFastMatt, has spent months meticulously modifying his Viper to create a rally-ready beast.
The Vision: A Rally Viper
In early 2023, Brown set out to transform his Viper into what he calls a “rally Viper.” This isn’t just a cosmetic makeover; it’s a serious off-road build with rally capabilities. Brown’s goal was to maintain the essence of the Viper while enhancing its off-road performance.
The Build Process
Brown’s journey to make his modified Viper road-worthy was no easy task. He had to tilt the entire drivetrain, requiring frame modifications and custom suspension components. The bespoke suspension setup included unique knuckles and control arms, along with droop-limiting straps to handle the Viper’s new off-road stance.
Overcoming Challenges
From bleeding the brakes to troubleshooting a no-start issue, Brown faced several challenges along the way. Despite setbacks like a faulty shifter linkage, he persevered and eventually got his off-road Viper ready for its first on-road test drive.
