Ariel E-Nomad Concept Previews 2026 Production EV
Ariel Introduces Fully Electric E-Nomad Concept
Shortly after the debut of the Ariel Nomad 2 last month, the UK-based company unveiled a fully electric version of its all-terrain model. The Ariel E-Nomad is still a concept, but it previews a production EV set to arrive in 2026.
Distinctive Design and Eco-Friendly Materials
The E-Nomad features a redesigned bodywork made of a recyclable flax fiber bio-composite material. Developed by Bamd Composites, these new panels are not only 9 percent lighter than carbon fiber but also produce 73 percent lower CO2 emissions during the manufacturing process.
Improved Aerodynamics and Powertrain
The E-Nomad boasts a 30 percent reduction in drag compared to the Nomad 2, without compromising downforce. This achievement is attributed to the tubular chassis cover and a sleeker roof that integrates a full-size spare wheel.
Furthermore, the E-Nomad is powered by a Borg Warner eDM motor that delivers 281 horsepower and 361 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a limited slip differential. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, matching the performance of the ICE version.
Efficient Battery System
The E-Nomad is equipped with a custom 41 kWh battery pack developed by Rockfort Engineering. This 450V battery pack is mounted behind the two-seater cabin and weighs 300 kg. It offers a range of 150 miles and supports DC fast charging, allowing it to reach 80 percent charge in under 25 minutes.
Future Plans and Pricing
The Ariel E-Nomad Concept will be officially unveiled at the Cenex Expo 2024 on September 4 and will undergo further testing. The production version is expected to be available in 2026. According to Autocar, the price of the EV is estimated to be around £10,000 ($13,236) higher than the ICE-powered Nomad 2, which starts from £67,992 ($90,023).
