Audi E-Tron GT Recalled Twice for Battery Problems

Audi Recalls E-Tron GT Models Over Battery Issue

Audi is recalling a total of 1,042 e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT vehicles due to a potential battery issue that could lead to fires. Owners are advised to limit charging to 80% until the faulty battery modules are replaced free of charge.

First Recall: Serious Battery Concerns

The first recall affects 1,013 vehicles from the 2022-2024 model years. The government highlighted that the high-voltage batteries in these vehicles may short circuit, posing a risk of thermal events and fires.

Investigation and Collaboration

Audi initiated an investigation after Porsche identified a defect in certain Taycan battery modules. As both vehicles share similar components, Audi collaborated with Porsche and supplier LG Energy Solution Wrocław to address the issue.

Two Separate Recalls

Due to different batches of affected vehicles requiring distinct remedies, Audi announced two separate recalls to address the battery concerns.

Second Recall: Limited Impact

The second recall involves 29 vehicles from the 2022 and 2023 model years. Audi has precise data on the impacted cars and will replace the battery modules at no cost to owners.

Precautionary Measures

While a fix for the first recall is pending, Audi recommends limiting charging to 80% until dealers can analyze battery data and determine if replacements are necessary. The new modules will feature improved cell production quality.
