Audi R8 Sales Surge in Q1 2024

In the first quarter of 2024, Audi experienced a remarkable 87 percent growth in sales of the iconic Audi R8. This surge in demand for the V10 supercar marked a significant increase compared to the same period in 2023.

Farewell to the Audi R8

After an illustrious 18-year run spanning two generations, production of the Audi R8 came to an end last month. Despite no official announcement of a direct successor, the beloved supercar bid farewell with a nearly doubled sales figure in its final months on the market.

Strong Performance of Audi’s EVs

While overall deliveries for Audi saw a 16 percent decline, the brand’s electric vehicles (EVs) emerged as the standout performers in the first quarter of the year. The e-tron GT, Audi’s all-electric sports car, witnessed a 7 percent increase in sales, totaling 776 deliveries in the first three months of 2024.

Positive Start for the e-tron Range

The entire e-tron range showcased a strong start in 2024. Audi successfully sold 1,905 Q4 e-trons and 773 Q4 Sportback e-trons in the first quarter, marking a 14 percent and 54 percent increase respectively compared to the previous year.

Mixed Results Across the Lineup

While some models like the A6 and A8 saw modest increases in sales, Audi’s SUV lineup faced challenges with declines of over 30 percent for models like the Q5, Q7, and Q8. The A4 and TT experienced significant drops in sales, with the latter seeing an 81 percent decrease following the end of production in November 2023.

Overall Performance

Despite the success of Audi’s EV lineup, the brand encountered a tough quarter with a 16 percent decrease in sales, primarily driven by the downturn in SUV sales. The brand continues to navigate market dynamics while focusing on its electric future.
