Audi Recalls Over a Dozen U.S. Models Due to Airbag Issue

Audi is issuing a recall for 17 different models in the United States due to a potential issue with the passenger seat occupant detection system. The problem lies with the pins inside the control module, which may prevent the airbag from deploying in case of an accident.

Issue Alert

The passenger airbag could switch into a fail-safe mode and deactivate, increasing the risk of injury for the individual in that seat. Owners will be alerted to this issue through a warning light on the dashboard.

Recall Details

The recall affects a total of 91 vehicles in the U.S. market. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has highlighted that the pins of the seat occupant detection system may not have been soldered correctly to the circuit board, leading to potential interruptions between the control module and the airbag control module.
