Audi Introduces Limited Edition RS e-tron GT Ice Race Edition

Audi has unveiled a new version of the RS e-tron GT called the “Ice Race Edition.” This special edition model pays homage to the homonymous concept that was originally designed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Audi Sport GmbH. Limited to just 99 units for European customers, the RS e-tron GT Ice Race Edition showcases the customization options offered by Audi’s exclusive division.

The production-spec Audi RS e-tron GT Ice Race Edition closely resembles the concept version unveiled in May 2023, with minor differences in the grille’s wrap and the wheel/tire specification. The sporty electric vehicle takes its name from the GP Ice Race held in Zell am See, Austria during the winter season.

The exterior of the RS e-tron GT Ice Race Edition features a Florett silver metallic shade as the base color, complemented by a black carbon roof, white emblems, and black-finished 21-inch wheels. The standout feature is the foil wrap that covers the entire bodywork, creating “targeted transparencies” to mimic the shine of snow crystals and ice lakes. Additionally, purple accents inspired by ski goggles are prominently displayed around the grille.

Inside the cabin, Audi designers have added diamond silver leather inserts on the seats, providing a striking contrast against the black leather upholstery and purple stitching. The steering wheel is wrapped in leather and Alcantara, featuring a diamond silver mark on the top. Special RS logos adorn the floor mats, adding a touch of exclusivity.

Mechanically, there are no changes compared to the standard Audi RS e-tron GT. The vehicle is equipped with dual electric motors that deliver a combined output of 637 horsepower (475 kW / 646 PS), drawing power from a 93.4 kWh battery pack.

This is not the first time Audi has introduced a special edition RS e-tron GT with a unique livery. In March, the company unveiled the Audi RS E-tron GT Project_513/2, limited to 75 units for the U.S. market. This edition mimicked the camouflage wrap of earlier development prototypes.

Audi’s exclusive division, which offers customization services, has been in operation since 1995. The program initially focused on options for the original A8, including a refrigerated compartment, mini bar, VHS player, and TV monitor. With personalized features becoming increasingly popular among buyers, Audi aims to promote the services of its “creative think tank” to a wider audience. Current customization options include an extended color palette, blacked-out emblems, and a variety of materials and finishes for Audi interiors. Looking ahead, Audi plans to offer “edition-specific” background images for its MMI infotainment system, along with new atmospheres for ambient lighting.

In conclusion, the Audi RS e-tron GT Ice Race Edition is a limited edition model that showcases Audi’s commitment to customization and exclusivity. With its eye-catching livery inspired by the GP Ice Race, this special edition offers a unique and personalized driving experience for European customers.
