Audi Stays Committed to EV Transition Despite Market Skepticism
Electrification Plans Remain Firm
Audi’s CEO, Gernot Döllner, affirms that the company will stay on course with its electrification strategy, even in the face of growing doubts in the market. The German automaker anticipates a significant decline in sales of combustion engine vehicles starting in 2026.
Product Strategy Overhaul
Since taking the helm at Audi, Döllner has been focused on revamping the product lineup. The company plans to introduce two models based on the PPE platform initially, followed by the launch of more than 20 new models in 2024 and 2025. By 2030, Audi aims to streamline its portfolio for a more focused approach.
Phasing Out Combustion Engines
Döllner confirmed that Audi intends to stop selling combustion engine vehicles in Europe and North America by 2033. The company is gearing up for a new era of all-electric models, plug-in hybrids, and combustion engines, with a gradual exit from combustion-powered segments.
Commitment to Electromobility
Despite potential political shifts, Döllner emphasized that electromobility is crucial to meeting emissions standards. Audi is prepared to adapt to changing regulations while staying aligned with its long-term electrification goals.
