BAC Mono R to Launch Exclusive Variant Next Week

Briggs Automotive Company (BAC) is set to unveil a new derivative of its track-focused, ultra-lightweight Mono R at Monterey Car Week on 17 August. This move is part of BAC’s strategy to establish itself as a global brand offering high-performance and ultra-luxury cars. The new derivative has been developed under BAC’s “one-of-a-kind” philosophy and promises to bring a new dimension to the company’s lineup.

The as-yet-unnamed derivative will stay true to the performance and handling characteristics that BAC is known for, while also allowing the company to tap into new markets and increase its presence on the world stage. It is expected to be powered by the same Mountune-sourced naturally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine as the Mono R, but with wider-bore cylinders and a new billet-aluminium crankshaft that raises the rev limit to 8000rpm.

With a power output of 136bhp per litre, the Mono R set a global record for a road-legal naturally aspirated engine. Its 555kg kerb weight resulted in a power-to-weight ratio of 612bhp per tonne, enabling it to achieve a blistering 0-62mph time of 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 170mph, comparable to the Ariel Atom V8.

The new derivative will be unveiled at the House of BAC ranch in Carmel Valley, California, by recently appointed chairman Mike Flewitt, along with co-founders Neill and Ian Briggs. Pricing details have not yet been released, but considering that most examples of the limited-run Mono R sold for well above £200,000, it is expected that this new derivative will command a similar price tag.

In addition to this new derivative, BAC has plans to introduce a turbocharged 332bhp Mono F to its expanding range. The Mono F will be powered by the 2.3-litre Ford Ecoboost engine from the Ford Focus ST, delivering 332bhp and 295lb ft of torque.

BAC’s expansion into new derivatives and models is part of its broader strategy to become a global performance brand. The company aims to offer a range of high-performance and ultra-luxury cars that cater to the demands of discerning customers worldwide. By leveraging its expertise in lightweight design and track-focused engineering, BAC aims to establish itself as a leading player in the global automotive industry.

Monterey Car Week provides the perfect platform for BAC to showcase its latest offerings to a global audience. This prestigious event attracts car enthusiasts, collectors, and industry professionals from around the world, making it an ideal venue for BAC to gain exposure and generate interest in its brand.

With its commitment to innovation, performance, and exclusivity, BAC is well-positioned to carve out a niche for itself in the competitive luxury car market. The company’s “one-of-a-kind” philosophy ensures that each BAC vehicle is a unique masterpiece, meticulously crafted to deliver an unparalleled driving experience.

As BAC continues to expand its lineup and establish itself as a global brand, car enthusiasts can look forward to more exciting announcements and groundbreaking developments from this British manufacturer. With its track-focused approach and unwavering commitment to excellence, BAC is set to redefine the boundaries of performance and luxury in the automotive industry.
