Bizzarrini Giotto Hyper GT Unveiled: Cosworth V12 Power

Bizzarrini Unveils the Giotto: A New Hyper GT with a Cosworth V12 Engine

Bizzarrini, the renowned Italian automaker, is making waves in the automotive industry once again. Following the successful deliveries of their 5300 GT Corsa Revival continuation series, the company has now unveiled the highly anticipated Giotto. This new hyper GT, designed by GFG Style, features a naturally aspirated V12 engine developed by Cosworth, incorporating cutting-edge motorsport-inspired technologies.

The Bizzarrini Giotto is making its debut as a full-scale prototype, after months of anticipation fueled by preview sketches and teasers. The carbon-fiber bodywork of the hypercar was meticulously designed by Giorgetto and Fabrizio Giugaro from their GFG Style studio in Turin. This design choice is particularly fitting, as Giorgetto Giugaro played a significant role in the creation of the original Bizzarrini 5300 GT while working for Bertone in the 1960s.

With its mid-engined hypercar proportions, the Giotto boasts a sharp nose, a sculpted profile, and a long tail. While it pays homage to the classic 5300 GT with its dual intakes on the front integrating thin LEDs, triangular B-pillar, and wraparound front and rear glass, the overall design of the Giotto exudes a modern and aggressive aesthetic. The side inlets bear a resemblance to the C8 Corvette, adding to its allure as a worthy rival to hypercars like the Pagani Utopia and the Gordon Murray T.33.

The name “Giotto” holds significant meaning for Bizzarrini, as it pays tribute to the company’s founder and legendary engineer. Giotto Bizzarrini was involved in the development of the iconic Ferrari 250 GTO before designing the original Lamborghini V12. The new Cosworth-built V12 engine powering the Giotto has a displacement of 6.6 liters, precisely matching Giotto Bizzarrini’s date of birth, June 6, 1926.

While Bizzarrini has not disclosed the power and torque figures of the naturally aspirated V12 engine, they have assured that it will comply with all worldwide legislative and emission regulations. The company aims to deliver an exceptional driving experience, prioritizing emotional engagement for both the driver and passenger. The Giotto is built on a carbon fiber chassis utilizing technologies and manufacturing processes derived from top-tier motorsport.

Chris Porritt, Bizzarrini’s Chief Technical Officer, brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles at Aston Martin, Tesla, Apple, and Rimac. Porritt emphasizes that their vision for the Giotto is not solely focused on lap times or acceleration records but rather on creating a deeply engaging and emotional driving experience.

In addition to the unveiling of the Giotto, Bizzarrini has also announced changes to its corporate structure. Julian Jenkins, a seasoned automotive executive with a background at Jaguar, Porsche, Bentley, Aston Martin, and Rolls-Royce, will replace current CEO Ian Fenton. Fenton will continue to contribute to Bizzarrini as an advisor, ensuring a smooth transition within the company.

As development progresses, Bizzarrini plans to provide further updates on the Giotto hypercar. On-road testing is scheduled to commence in late 2024. Automotive enthusiasts and collectors eagerly await more details about this exciting addition to the hypercar segment.
