Mini has temporarily stopped deliveries of its Cooper and Countryman models as a result of an upcoming brake system-related recall caused by potentially faulty components. The recall is due to issues with the integrated braking system, which affects the feel and feedback provided through the brake pedal.

Earlier this year, over 80,000 BMW and Rolls-Royce models worldwide were also impacted by the same problem. The defects in the ABS and stability control systems could potentially lead to a failure in power braking assistance, resulting in a loss of control for the driver.

The BMW Group, the parent company of Mini, is planning to expand the recall to include additional models as more cases beyond the original scope of the recall have been identified.

A spokesperson for Mini confirmed that the affected models are the three- and five-door Cooper, as well as the Countryman. They assured that the affected vehicles are currently on hold and will be delivered to customers once the necessary parts have been replaced.

Although some affected owners claim that over 20,000 vehicles are impacted, Mini disputes this and states that the actual number is much lower. However, they have not provided an exact figure.

Mini is currently in discussions with the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) and will soon announce the intended actions to remedy the issue. Affected customers in the UK will be notified through a letter sent to the registered keeper.

Despite the recall, Mini sales are operating as usual, and all models are still available for ordering.
