Brabus Rocket 900 R with Giga Gears

Introducing the Brabus 900 Rocket R: A Porsche 911 Like No Other

German automotive powerhouse Brabus has surprised everyone with its latest creation, the 900 Rocket R. Breaking away from its traditional affiliation with Mercedes-Benz, Brabus has ventured into uncharted territory by transforming the Porsche 911 Turbo S into a high-performance masterpiece. With a price tag of €549,130 (£470,975) and limited to just 25 units, the 900 Rocket R is a true rarity in the automotive world.

Why did Brabus choose to work on a Porsche? The answer is simple. Brabus aimed to create its most dynamic car ever, and it recognized that Porsche’s superior agility and grip made it the perfect candidate. The Turbo S, in particular, embodies the essence of Brabus with its power, security, and luxurious DNA.

Transforming a 911 Turbo S into a 900 Rocket R involves both visible and hidden modifications. The car is fitted with a 70mm-wider carbon fiber bodykit, enhancing its aggressive appearance. Attention to detail is evident in the carefully crafted vents and seamless integration of the ducktail spoiler. Under the hood, the car receives upgrades such as Bilstein dampers, an Inconel exhaust, larger turbos, and an additional ECU, resulting in a staggering increase in power from 641bhp to 888bhp and torque from 590lb ft to 738lb ft.

Brabus’s commitment to both aesthetics and performance is evident in the Rocket R’s design. The company utilizes Toyota’s wind tunnel in Cologne to ensure optimal aerodynamics. Although the Rocket R generates less downforce than the 911 Turbo S, it offers improved high-speed stability thanks to a subtle increase in rake. With the right tires, the Rocket R could potentially reach speeds of up to 240mph, although it is currently limited to 211mph due to tire ratings.

Driving the Rocket R is a thrilling experience, closely resembling the regular Turbo S but with noticeable enhancements. The lowered ride height and reduced body movement result in heightened responsiveness. Surprisingly, the steering is lighter than standard, providing a fingertip-like feel at high speeds. However, it is worth noting that the car is susceptible to tramlining. Despite its incredible power, the Rocket R offers a comfortable ride, demonstrating Brabus’s commitment to long-distance comfort.

Performance-wise, the Rocket R is a force to be reckoned with. The additional boost gives the engine a more aggressive feel, yet it remains linear and relentless in its power delivery. Traction is not an issue, especially on dry asphalt. The car’s true potential is unleashed in the final third of the rev range, where the extra oomph becomes evident. However, even in everyday driving, the Rocket R maintains its sure-footedness and rapidity.

While it is unlikely that top executives at Porsche will be seen driving the 900 Rocket R, it is safe to say that they would appreciate its unique blend of the 992-generation Turbo S’s performance with the flamboyance and drama reminiscent of the GT3 RS. Brabus has once again pushed the boundaries of automotive engineering and delivered a truly exceptional vehicle in the form of the 900 Rocket R.
