Introducing the BYD Seal U PHEV: A Spacious and Affordable SUV
The BYD Seal U PHEV is set to make its debut in the UK market with a starting price of £33,205. This larger sibling of the Seal electric saloon offers more interior space, competitive range, and a price tag that is lower than the VW Tiguan PHEV.
Key Details of the BYD Seal U PHEV:
– The front-wheel drive Boost model starts at £33,205, while the all-wheel drive Design model begins at £39,905.
– Comfort spec cars, combining the larger battery from the Design model with the front-wheel drive powertrain, will have prices announced soon.
– Order books are open now, with UK sales starting in September.
The BYD Seal U is a larger version of the Seal electric saloon, known as the BYD Song in China. With dimensions of 4775mm long, 1890mm wide, and 1670mm high, this SUV offers a spacious 552-litre boot – larger than competitors like the Peugeot 3008 and Skoda Karoq.
In China, the Seal U is available with both electric and PHEV powertrains, offering impressive range and performance. The PHEV model combines a 106bhp petrol engine with an 18.3kWh battery and a 194bhp electric motor for around 68 miles of electric-only range.
Standard features on the BYD Seal U include 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, vegan leather upholstery, wireless phone charging, an Infinity premium sound system, and a 15.6-inch rotatable infotainment system.
This launch marks the next step in BYD’s European expansion, following the success of models like the BYD Atto 3 electric crossover and the affordable BYD Dolphin electric hatchback. As the world’s leading manufacturer of PHEVs and EVs, BYD continues to innovate and provide sustainable mobility solutions for consumers worldwide.
