BYD Seal X: Production Version of Ocean-M Electric Hot Hatch Revealed

Introducing the BYD Seal X: A New Addition to the Ocean Series

The BYD Seal X is the latest model to join BYD’s expanding Ocean series, offering two powertrain options – 215 hp and 416 hp. This production version of the electric hot hatch has undergone some design changes from its concept car counterpart, with a more streamlined look.

Design Changes from Concept to Production

Gone are the exaggerated aero appendages of the Ocean-M concept, replaced by a sleeker and more refined aesthetic. The Seal X features angular headlights, newly-shaped air intakes, and a simplified rear diffuser. While the large aero fins and fixed rear wing didn’t make it to production, the car still retains some sharp design elements.

Powertrain Options and Battery Technology

Prospective buyers can choose between two powertrain options for the Seal X. The entry-level model comes with a single electric motor at the rear axle producing 215 hp, while a dual-motor version with 416 hp is also available. Both versions are equipped with lithium-iron phosphate Blade batteries from BYD’s FinDreams battery division.

Final Thoughts

The BYD Seal X is set to make a splash in the electric vehicle market with its stylish design, powerful performance, and advanced battery technology. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new addition to the Ocean series.
