BYD’s New $11K Plug-in Hybrid Sedan Outperforms VW Lavida and Toyota Corolla Prices

BYD Introduces Budget-Friendly Qin Plus DM-i Plug-In Hybrid

BYD is making waves in the Chinese automotive market with its latest offering, the Qin Plus DM-i plug-in hybrid. Priced at 79,800 yuan (approximately $11,000), this vehicle is one of the most competitively priced PHEVs in its segment.

Competitive Pricing

According to BYD, “The price will make gasoline car assemblers tremble.” The Qin Plus DM-i undercuts competitors like the VW Lavida and Toyota Corolla by significant margins, making it a standout choice for budget-conscious buyers.

Impressive Powertrain

All versions of the Qin Plus DM-i feature a powertrain consisting of a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated engine, an electric motor with two configurations, and BYD’s Blade batteries. Despite its affordability, the vehicle offers a range of up to 55 km on electric power alone.

Luxurious Interior

Despite its low price point, the Qin Plus DM-i boasts a well-equipped cabin with features like a central infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster, leather seats, and premium finishes. The interior rivals that of more expensive vehicles on the market.

Expanding Product Line

BYD is not only focusing on affordable vehicles but also expanding its product line to include more premium offerings like the YangWang U8 SUV and YangWang U9 supercar. The company is aiming to compete with luxury brands in addition to budget-friendly options.

With its combination of affordability, performance, and luxury features, the BYD Qin Plus DM-i is set to make a significant impact in the Chinese automotive market.
