Cadillac Introduces New Optiq SUV to Compete with Audi and BMW in Europe

Cadillac Introduces New Optiq SUV to European Market

Cadillac is set to launch its new Optiq SUV later this year, marking the American brand’s entry into the UK market. Positioned as a “luxury entry point” into Cadillac’s electric line-up, the Optiq will compete with popular models like the Audi Q4 e-tron and BMW iX3. This move comes as part of Cadillac’s resurgence in Europe, following the creation of a new European division in 2021.

The Optiq will feature a dual-motor, four-wheel-drive powertrain with 300bhp and 354lb ft of torque. The SUV’s 85kWh battery is expected to offer a range of up to 300 miles, with fast charging capabilities that can add up to 79 miles of range in just 10 minutes. The vehicle will also include advanced features like one-pedal driving and various driving modes to enhance performance.

Measuring similar in size to the Mercedes-Benz EQC, the Optiq boasts a sleek exterior design with a focus on aerodynamic performance. Inside, the SUV offers a luxurious cabin equipped with a 33-inch horizontal LED display, Google-supported infotainment system, and Cadillac’s Super Cruise driver assistance technology.

Cadillac’s President and Managing Director for GM Europe, Jaclyn McQuaid, emphasizes the brand’s commitment to offering innovative and sustainable materials in their vehicles. The Optiq will be available in Luxury and Sport trims, with pricing starting at $54,000 in the US.

In a recent Q&A session, McQuaid highlighted Cadillac’s focus on meeting European market demands while staying true to the brand’s heritage. She also expressed confidence in the Optiq’s appeal to European customers, citing its ideal size for European roads and competitive pricing compared to other models in the lineup.

Cadillac’s approach to dealership locations reflects their commitment to providing a personalized experience for customers. With city center and outskirts locations planned, Cadillac aims to cater to both existing fans of the brand and new customers exploring Cadillac for the first time.
