Whistleblower Exposes Alleged Misconduct at Chicago Car Dealership

Introduction

Car dealerships often have a negative reputation among the general public, with many associating them with questionable activities. A recent whistleblower lawsuit filed by Nicholas Davidson sheds light on alleged misconduct at a Ford dealership in Antioch, near Chicago. The lawsuit includes allegations of fraudulent sales tactics, forgery, sexual assault, and more.

The Allegations

Davidson, a former finance manager at Kunes Country Ford, claims that he was asked to clean up deals done by the previous finance manager, which he describes as illegal, fraudulent, and deceptive. He alleges that these deals involved the regional general manager and several other employees. One specific incident involved a co-signer signature on loan paperwork that did not match their driver’s license or credit application. Despite reporting the suspected forgery, no action was taken by the General Manager.

Assault and Rehire

In addition to the fraudulent activities, Davidson states that a salesman came to work drunk one day and assaulted him, causing serious injury. The same salesman later pleaded guilty to battery, was fired for being under the influence of alcohol at work, and was subsequently rehired by the dealership. The lawsuit also alleges that the salesman engaged in sexual harassment of an 18-year-old cashier at the dealership.

Retaliation and Termination

When Davidson assisted the cashier in preparing a sexual harassment complaint for the human resources department, he claims he became a target for retaliation. Shortly after, he was fired without any disciplinary action for misconduct or performance issues. The dealership is reportedly fighting his workers’ compensation claim.

Legal Proceedings

The case is scheduled for its first hearing on January 18th, 2024. Neither Kunes Country Ford nor Davidson’s attorney have provided further details about the case at this time.
