With its stretched body and market-specific features, the X5 Li is set to make a statement in the Chinese automotive market.

Redesigned Exterior

The BMW X5 Li measures 5,060 mm (199.2 inches) in length with a wheelbase of 3,105 mm (122.2 inches), making it 130 mm (5.1 inches) longer than the regular X5. The facelifted version adopts sharper LED headlights, slimmer intakes, and X-shaped taillight graphics. The M Package is included as standard, and customers can personalize their X5 Li with options such as 22-inch M light alloy wheels, the Star Sky panoramic sunroof, and a variety of colors from the BMW Individual catalog.

Upgraded Interior

Inside the X5 Li, the highlight of the update is the new iDrive 8.5 infotainment system displayed on a larger 14.9-inch touchscreen. The curved panel also houses a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Rear passengers enjoy ample legroom and easier access due to the longer rear doors. Additional amenities include Harman Kardon audio, multiple USB-C ports, wireless charging, high-quality upholstery materials, wood trim, and bright-crystal accents.

Mild Hybrid Powertrain

BMW offers two powertrain options for the X5 Li, both equipped with mild hybrid technology. The xDrive30Li features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 255 hp (190 kW / 258 PS) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. The xDrive40Li, on the other hand, boasts a more powerful turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine generating 375 hp (280 kW / 381 PS) and 520 Nm (384 lb-ft) of torque. Both trims come standard with all-wheel drive and an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. The xDrive40Li also offers an optional adaptive dual-axle air suspension for enhanced comfort.

Production and Pricing

The BMW X5 Li will be manufactured at the Dadong plant in Shenyang, China, as part of the BMW Brilliance joint venture. The market launch of this model, which remains exclusive to China, is scheduled for September. The starting price for the four-cylinder xDrive30Li is ¥615,000 ($84,380), while the six-cylinder xDrive40Li starts from ¥729,000 ($100,029).

Conclusion

The facelifted BMW X5 Li showcased at the Chengdu Motor Show in China brings a refreshed design, upgraded interior, and mild hybrid powertrain options to the long-wheelbase SUV. With its luxurious features, advanced technology, and increased performance, the X5 Li is set to attract Chinese customers seeking a premium driving experience.
