Rocky River Police Recover Stolen Classic Muscle Cars from Chop Shop

Investigation Leads to Recovery of Stolen Vehicles

In November, the Rocky River Police launched an investigation into the theft of two classic muscle cars from a parking
garage. On December 14th, they made a breakthrough discovery in what they’re calling a ‘chop shop’, which may lead
to the recovery of even more stolen cars. One fortunate owner has already been reunited with their stolen vehicle.

Collaboration with Cleveland Police Yields Results

Working in collaboration with the Cleveland Police, local detectives, and investigators, the Rocky River Police initially
focused their search on the stolen Chevrolet Impala and Pontiac GTO. This investigation led them to a series of properties
on West 31st Street in Cleveland.

Condition of the Recovered Vehicles

During the search, the police found the Chevrolet Impala covered, ensuring its preservation. Unfortunately, the Pontiac
GTO was discovered in multiple pieces. The engine was fully wrapped in shipping material, the rear frame section
was cut up, and both the exterior and interior were in disarray. Additionally, several other unidentified vehicles
in similar condition were found on the property.

Hope for More Owners

While the police have not released detailed information about the chop shop ring, their silence may indicate that they
are closing in on more arrests. It is evident that this situation involves multiple suspects, multiple locations,
and a significant number of stolen cars. The Rocky River Police are committed to ensuring that more owners are reunited
with their stolen vehicles in one piece.

Owner’s Emotional Response

“It’s a 1966 convertible, 396, Super Sport. It’s kind of a family thing – everybody’s gotten enjoyment out of it,” said
Mark Condrich, the owner of the recovered Chevrolet Impala. “We’ve had it for almost 24 years. When my son was a
baby, he was in a car seat in the back, and he’s been in it ever since. He even took it to prom.”
