California Woman Sues JetBlue for Refusing to Accommodate Emotional Support Dog
A California woman has filed a lawsuit against JetBlue, alleging that the airline’s refusal to allow her emotional support dog on board caused a relapse of her Stage 4 cancer. The lawsuit also claims that JetBlue violated the Americans with Disabilities Act during the incident.
The Lawsuit
The woman and her husband have taken legal action against JetBlue, stating that the airline’s crew member kicked them off the flight, despite having proper documentation for the emotional support dog. This incident occurred last year and resulted in the woman’s cancer resurfacing.
Violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act
In addition to the emotional distress caused by the refusal to accommodate the emotional support dog, the lawsuit alleges that JetBlue violated the Americans with Disabilities Act. This federal law prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities and requires businesses to make reasonable accommodations to ensure equal access.
Seeking Justice
The woman and her husband are seeking compensation for the physical and emotional damages they have suffered as a result of JetBlue’s actions. They hope that their lawsuit will not only bring them justice but also raise awareness about the importance of accommodating individuals with disabilities and their support animals.
