Cybertruck Beach Mishap: Skids, Citation, Giga Gears

The Tesla Cybertruck Gets Stuck on California Beach

During the lead-up to the Cybertruck launch last year, a video surfaced online showing the electric pickup truck splashing in the shallows of the Gulf Coast near Tesla’s Texas base. While the employee-driven Cybertruck in that video managed to navigate the beach without incident, the same cannot be said for a retail example in California.

Illegal Beach Adventure

The owner of the Cybertruck drove illegally onto Marina State Beach in California, located between Santa Cruz and Monterey, and ended up getting the vehicle stuck in the sand. Video footage captured by a bystander and published by KSBW shows the truck surrounded by people, including the driver and a park ranger, with deep tire tracks in front of it as it struggled to reverse out of the predicament.

Rescue Efforts

As the Cybertruck remained stuck, two individuals were seen pushing the vehicle while the driver attempted to reverse again, eventually succeeding. Given the weight of the Tesla Cybertruck, which can reach up to 6,843 lbs (3,100 kg), it is unclear how much assistance the human helpers provided. Reports suggest that lowering the tire pressure may have been the key to freeing the truck from the sand.

Park Ranger Intervention

Despite avoiding a potential disaster, park rangers were displeased to find the Cybertruck on Marina State Beach, as public vehicles are prohibited from accessing the area. The driver received a citation for the incident, highlighting the consequences of disregarding beach regulations.

Lessons Learned

While no serious damage occurred during this beach misadventure, it serves as a reminder to respect local rules and regulations when enjoying outdoor activities. The Tesla Cybertruck’s escapade on Marina State Beach may have been entertaining for onlookers, but it also underscores the importance of responsible vehicle operation.
