“Czinger 21C Breaks Laguna Seca Lap Record, Defeating Koenigsegg | Giga Gears”

Czinger Reclaims Production Car Lap Record at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca

Czinger has reclaimed the production car lap record at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, beating Koenigsegg with its 21C hypercar. The previous record was broken by Koenigsegg’s Jesko Attack, but Czinger quickly responded and set a new lap time of 1:24.75, 0.11 seconds faster than the Jesko.

The Battle for the Record

In 2021, Czinger initially set the lap record at Laguna Seca with a time of 1:25.44. However, Koenigsegg surpassed this record on August 18 this year with a time of 1:24.86. Not willing to let its rival hold the record for long, Czinger returned to the circuit on August 26 and shaved off 11-tenths of a second from the Jesko’s benchmark.

The Impressive Czinger 21C

The Czinger 21C used to set the new record features a striking “Rattlesnake” Green carbon fiber finish. This track-focused hypercar is powered by a bespoke 2.88-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine developed in-house by Czinger. With a flat-plane crank, this V8 revs up to 11,000 rpm and produces 950 hp. Additional power is provided by two electric motors, resulting in a total output of 1,233 hp or up to 1,333 hp with an optional power upgrade. The 21C weighs under 2,733 lbs (1,240 kg) dry, contributing to its exceptional performance on the track.

What’s Next?

With Czinger reclaiming the lap record, the question remains whether Koenigsegg will attempt to reclaim it with the Jesko Attack. Only time will tell who will hold the title at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
