Oklahoma City UTV Dealer Faces Backlash After Customer Vehicle Crash

Accident Involving UTV at Maxey’s Motorsports

  • Customer vehicle crashed by Oklahoma City UTV dealer
  • Allegations of joyriding on public streets
  • Local reports of dealer employees speeding in the neighborhood on UTVs

Maxey’s Motorsports, a UTV dealer in Oklahoma City, is under scrutiny after a customer’s vehicle was involved
in an accident. Mechele Abbot, the owner of a 2019 Polaris RZR, claims that a dealer mechanic crashed the
vehicle during a joyride on public streets. Despite the incident, Maxey’s has refused to pay for the
repairs, leaving Abbot frustrated and seeking assistance from local media outlets.

Abbot inherited the Polaris UTV from her late husband in 2022 and chose Maxey’s Motorsports due to her
husband’s previous association with the dealership. However, on February 8, 2023, an employee of the dealer
wrecked the vehicle. Local news station KFOR confirmed the accident through a police report, stating that
the employee swerved to avoid hitting a child, causing the RZR to flip and sustain damage. Abbot believes
that the service staff took advantage of her vulnerability as a widow.

Concerns have also been raised by locals regarding the driving behavior of Maxey’s Motorsports employees.
Residents claim that UTVs are frequently driven at high speeds through the neighborhood, prompting the
placement of signs reminding drivers to slow down. Initially denying the allegations, the operations manager
later acknowledged the issue after being presented with evidence.

Abbot’s primary goal is to have her husband’s RZR repaired and receive compensation from the dealer’s
insurance. She hopes for a resolution that allows her to keep the vehicle with the matter resolved. Maxey’s
Motorsports has yet to comment on the situation or provide their perspective on the incident.
