Dodge Unveils Hornet R/T FC1-X for Nitrocross Series

Dodge Hornet R/T FC1-X

Introduction

Dodge has revealed the Hornet R/T FC1-X, a high-performance electric vehicle that will compete in the Nitrocross Series. With its impressive powertrain and unique design, the Hornet aims to attract a younger fan base.

The Hornet’s Significance

The Hornet has been hailed as the most important Dodge in over a decade. However, its sales have been disappointing, with only 23,436 units sold in the United States this year. In comparison, Ford sold 37,943 Escapes in the second quarter alone.

The Nitrocross Series

The Hornet R/T FC1-X is specifically built for the 2024-2025 Nitrocross Series, a racing event with a young and enthusiastic fan base. Dodge sees this as an opportunity to promote the Hornet to a new audience.

Powerful Performance

The Hornet R/T FC1-X is equipped with four electric motors that produce a combined output of 1,070 horsepower. This allows the all-wheel drive car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 1.4 seconds.

Distinctive Design

In addition to its impressive performance, the Hornet R/T FC1-X features a unique livery inspired by the Hornet road-going model. Its two-door coupe design is complemented by a large rear wing and a NASA-worthy diffuser.

Advanced Features

The Hornet R/T FC1-X boasts a tubular chassis, adjustable double wishbone suspension, and 12 inches of wheel travel. It is also equipped with an Alcon braking system and adjustable anti-roll bars.

Nitrocross Team

Dodge has partnered with the Dreyer & Reinbold Racing team to field four Hornet vehicles in the Nitrocross Series. The cars will be driven by Lia Block, Robin Larsson, Fraser McConnell, and Andres Bakkerud.

Targeting a Younger Audience

Dodge CEO Matt McAlear believes that Nitrocross is the perfect platform to reach a youthful audience, as approximately 75% of the fans are between the ages of 18 and 34. This provides an opportunity to introduce the Hornet to a new and enthusiastic audience.
