Florida Man Faces Multiple Charges After Car Burglaries and Crash

Introduction

A Florida man is in trouble with the law after a string of car burglaries and a subsequent crash on Monday morning. The incident has led to a long list of charges against the suspect.

Car Burglaries and Attempted Escape

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office received a report around 3:28 am about a man and woman attempting to break into multiple vehicles in a neighborhood. The witness informed the authorities that the couple was driving a white sedan and heading towards the only exit in the area.

A deputy spotted the car and tried to initiate a stop, but the driver of the 2006 Cadillac CTS accelerated and fled into the neighborhood. Since there was only one exit, the deputies decided not to pursue the suspect and instead waited for him to emerge.

Crash and Arrest

Despite not being chased, the driver panicked and started searching for another way out as he was unfamiliar with the neighborhood. In the process, he drove past a deputy, turned around, and sped back down the same street in an attempt to find an escape route. However, his efforts were in vain, and he ended up crashing into a parked car.

The suspects were immediately apprehended and taken to the hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. The driver, identified as 37-year-old Timothy Allen Hogue, had a neck tattoo that read “All gas, no brakes.” Sheriff Grady Judd commented on the incident, stating, “Fleeing from a law enforcement traffic stop demonstrates very poor decision making, but to do it in a small, residential neighborhood at a high rate of speed is a terrible idea and dangerous. It’s amazing and fortunate that nobody innocent was hurt or killed.”

Charges and Criminal History

Hogue admitted to the car burglaries and explained that he fled because he “freaked out.” He now faces multiple charges, including burglary, theft, drug possession, and resisting arrest. Surprisingly, Hogue had a lengthy criminal history with 31 felonies and 18 misdemeanors prior to this incident. His partner, 31-year-old Rebecca Kozub, also has a significant criminal record and will face additional charges related to the car burglaries.

Conclusion

The series of car burglaries and subsequent crash have resulted in serious charges for the Florida man involved. The incident highlights the dangers of attempting to escape law enforcement and the potential consequences of such actions.
