Elon Musk Announces Tesla’s Future Plans in Germany

Tesla’s Entry-Level EV to be Built in Germany

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, recently visited the company’s German factory and announced plans to build the brand’s future entry-level electric vehicle at the facility. The new model, known as the “Model 2,” is expected to be produced in Berlin in the long term. While details about the plan are scarce, analysts predict that the $25,000 EV won’t reach mass production until 2027.

Tesla Semi Production in Germany

During his visit, Musk also hinted at the possibility of producing the Tesla Semi truck in Germany. He expressed interest in expanding production to Giga Berlin, where the company is planning a massive 420-acre expansion. The Semi truck, currently being built in Nevada, could see increased production numbers by the end of this year.

Future of Tesla’s Model 2 and Semi Truck

When the Tesla Model 2 hits the market, it is expected to feature a futuristic design inspired by the Cybertruck. Production will initially start in Texas before expanding to other locations. Additionally, the $25,000 model is set to spawn a fully-autonomous robotaxi variant. As for the Semi truck, Musk sees potential in building it in Europe and aims to increase production in the near future.

Challenges and Opposition

Despite Tesla’s ambitious plans for expansion, the company faces challenges from environmental activists opposing the clearing of a nearby forest for construction. The proposed expansion includes a freight station, warehouses, and a company kindergarten, but activists have taken up residence in three houses to protest against deforestation.
