Mazda EZ-6 Spy Shots

Introduction

Our spy photographers have recently captured a prototype of the Mazda EZ-6 undergoing tests in Europe. The electrified sedan, set to launch in China and Europe this fall, is generating a lot of excitement. Let’s take a closer look at what we know about this upcoming model.

Chinese Origins and Global Launch

The Mazda EZ-6, which debuted in China last April, is built on the same platform as Changan’s Deepal/Shenlan SL03 sedans. Initially intended for the Chinese market only, Mazda has now decided to offer it globally. Unfortunately, the EZ-6 won’t be available in North America.

Spy Shots and Camouflage

Although the Mazda EZ-6 has already been revealed in China, the prototype spotted in Europe remains camouflaged. It’s unclear if there will be any aesthetic differences from the Chinese model, but based on the spy shots, the prototype appears to be identical. We also get a glimpse of the active rear spoiler in action and a different set of black alloy wheels.

Specifications and Powertrains

The Mazda EZ-6 measures 4,921 mm (193.7 inches) in length, making it slightly longer than the discontinued Mazda6 and shorter than the VW ID.7. It is built on a Changan-derived architecture that supports both fully electric and range-extender powertrains. The EV variant is expected to offer a maximum CLTC range of 600 km (373 miles), while the EREV version will exceed 1,000 km (621 miles).

European Market Launch

Mazda has confirmed that the European market launch of the EZ-6 will take place this fall. However, there is no word on a possible export to North America at this time.
