Everrati Converts Mercedes-Benz SL Pagoda into EV with 200+ Mile Range | Giga Gears

Everrati Converts Classic Mercedes-Benz SL “Pagoda” into Electric Vehicle

A meticulously restored example of the classic SL “Pagoda” has been converted into a fully electric vehicle by Everrati. The sought-after classic traded its original six-cylinder engine for an in-house developed electric powertrain. As with Everrati’s earlier projects, the conversion is fully reversible, meaning that the value and originality of the model are not affected.

Electric Powertrain and Performance

The electric motor is available with two power outputs. The base version makes 174 hp (129 kW / 176 PS) and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) while the top-spec model produces 300 hp (224 kW / 304 PS) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft). Everrati claims that the top speed is 124 mph (200 km/h), matching the stock petrol-powered SL, with an improved 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) sprint completed in less than 7 seconds.

Driving Range and Weight Balance

The 68 kWh battery pack allows a driving range of over 200 miles (322 km) between charges. Everrati made sure that the weight balance remained close to the original, as did the overall weight figure, so that the driving dynamics were not compromised.

Meticulous Restoration by Hilton & Moss

The pictured example was hand-built and restored by Hilton & Moss, a classic car dealership in England. Respecting the original design, they didn’t change anything on the exterior or the interior – setting aside the revised but still retro dials. This means that the only way to tell that this is an electric SL is the absence of an exhaust pipe and the lack of engine noise. Everrati has a configurator on its official website, allowing interested parties to choose the color (Cactus Grey, Silver, Edwardian Blue) and top style (hardtop, soft top, open top) of the SL.

The Classic Mercedes-Benz SL “Pagoda”

The Mercedes-Benz SL W113 produced between 1963 and 1971 is admittedly one of the classiest generations of the German roadster, designed by masters Paul Bracq and Bela Barenyi. The Pagoda has been the vehicle of choice for several well-known individuals, including musicians John Lennon and Tina Turner, actors Audrey Hepburn and Charlton Heston, and more recent celebrities like F1 driver David Coulthard and pop star Harry Styles.

Unveiling at Monaco Yacht Show

Everrati presented its latest EV conversion at the Fairmont Monte Carlo during the Monaco Yacht Show. The electric SL will remain on display in the lobby of the hotel between September 27-30. The cost of this particular vehicle wasn’t disclosed, but earlier announcements mentioned a starting price of £295,000 ($358,053) for EV-converted Pagodas.

In conclusion, Everrati’s conversion of the classic Mercedes-Benz SL “Pagoda” into a fully electric vehicle showcases their commitment to preserving the beauty and heritage of iconic cars while embracing sustainable technology. With its reversible conversion, impressive performance, and range, this electric SL offers a unique driving experience without compromising the originality and value of the classic model.
