The new Lucid Gravity electric SUV, recently unveiled in Los Angeles, is set to receive a limited-edition range-topping ‘Dream’ variant. This exclusive model will offer an impressive range of well over 440 miles, making it a strong competitor to the BMW iX.
Long-Range and High Performance
The standard Lucid Gravity already boasts a maximum range of 440 miles, but CEO Peter Rawlinson hinted at the possibility of a longer-range Dream edition. The Lucid Air Dream edition, certified as the longest-range EV in America, offers 520 miles of range. Rawlinson suggested that the Dream edition of the Gravity will have a similar limited production run of over 440 units.
In addition to its impressive range, the Lucid Gravity is expected to deliver exceptional performance. The Air Dream Edition featured a power boost to 1111bhp, enabling it to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 2.5 seconds. It is anticipated that the range-topping Gravity will be one of the fastest SUVs ever produced.
Environmentally Friendly and Versatile
The Lucid Gravity is described as an environmentally friendly and versatile electric vehicle with the spirit of a supercar. It offers “sports car performance” with a 3.5-second 0-62mph time, thanks to its power-dense EV motors. Despite its performance capabilities, the Gravity can carry over 700kg onboard and tow loads of nearly three tonnes.
Efficiency and Practicality
The Lucid Gravity achieves its impressive range through a combination of low drag coefficient and the energy efficiency of Lucid’s own EV powertrain. The SUV’s low-slung silhouette and advanced air suspension system contribute to its on-road performance and off-road capabilities.
Practicality is also a focus for the Gravity, with foldable seats, a spacious load bay, and additional storage options. The interior features a large curved OLED display and a separate screen on the center console. To minimize distractions while driving, the Gravity includes a ‘Detox mode’ that displays only essential driving information.
Availability and Pricing
While the UK launch plans for the Lucid Air and Gravity are yet to be confirmed, the Gravity is expected to hit the US market in late 2022 with a starting price below $80,000 (£64,500).
