Fisker Alaska: World’s Lightest EV Pick-Up Truck Revealed

Fisker Unveils All-Electric Pick-Up Truck, the Fisker Alaska, at Product Vision Day

Fisker, the renowned electric vehicle manufacturer, has recently unveiled its latest creation at its first-ever ‘Product Vision Day’. Alongside the Fisker Ronin super-saloon, Fisker Pear hatchback, and the existing Fisker Ocean SUV, the company introduced the highly anticipated Fisker Alaska, an all-electric pick-up truck set to hit the market in 2025.

Built on the company’s FT31 platform, which is an extended version of the structure used by the Fisker Ocean, the Alaska aims to be the world’s lightest and most sustainable pick-up truck. Henrik Fisker, the CEO of Fisker, presented the Alaska on stage and highlighted its similarities in size and driving experience to the Ocean.

While specific battery and powertrain options were not fully disclosed, Fisker estimates that the Alaska will offer an impressive range of between 230 and 340 miles. The pick-up truck features a versatile cargo bed that measures 1.37m at its smallest size but can be extended to 2.28m and further to 2.80m. Additionally, a unique ‘Houdini’ bed divider will connect the cargo bed and rear cabin, providing enhanced flexibility for users.

Inside the Alaska, drivers will find wooden trim on the dashboard, treated to feel like fabric. The back seats even include a cowboy hat holder, adding a touch of personality to the vehicle. Similar to the Fisker Ocean, the Alaska also boasts a ‘California mode’, which enhances the open-air driving experience.

When it arrives in 2025, the Fisker Alaska will enter a segment with limited competition. Key rivals in the electric pick-up truck market include the Ford F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T, and the Maxus T90EV, which is currently the only electric pick-up available in the UK. However, Fisker plans to significantly undercut its competitors in terms of pricing.

The company has announced that the Alaska will be priced from $45,400 (£36,546), making it approximately £15,000 cheaper than the Maxus T90EV in the UK. This aggressive pricing strategy aims to make electric pick-up trucks more accessible to a wider range of consumers.

During the Product Vision Day event, Henrik Fisker expressed his vision for the Alaska, stating, “We wanted to have a pick-up that had both the ‘pick-up truck’ efficiency and usability, but also one that’s a great driver’s car – great roadholding, great ride, and fun to drive. It’s going to be really dynamic and very responsive, with the convenience of a pick-up truck. We thought: let’s do something really unique.”

With its combination of sustainability, versatility, and affordability, the Fisker Alaska has the potential to disrupt the electric pick-up truck market. As more consumers embrace electric vehicles and seek environmentally friendly alternatives, Fisker aims to meet their needs with innovative and exciting offerings.

The Fisker Alaska is scheduled for release in 2025, and interested buyers can look forward to a high-quality electric pick-up truck that delivers on performance, range, and affordability. As Fisker continues to push the boundaries of electric vehicle technology, the Alaska represents another step towards a greener and more sustainable future on the roads.
